San Francisco's municipal vehicle towing and impound program
SFMTA Impound is the City and County of San Francisco's program for removing illegally parked and abandoned vehicles from city streets, working with the San Francisco Police Department to authorize tows. Vehicles are taken to an impound facility operated by contractor TEGSCO, LLC at 450 7th Street, open 24 hours a day including holidays, though oversized vehicles may be routed to a secondary Daly City lot. Owners must appear in person with identification and pay administrative, tow, and storage fees before a vehicle is released; cash, ATM cards, and major credit cards are accepted, but phone, online, and check payments are not. Reduced or waived fees are available for low-income residents, people experiencing homelessness, and first-time tows, and owners may contest a tow through a formal hearing request.
