Southtown Wrecker traces back to 1962, when Cleveland Smith founded Southtown Shell in South Bloomington and later added the company's first wrecker truck. Eric Smith, who had served as vice president since 1998, took over ownership in 2022, and Patrick Henson became owner in 2024, continuing a lineage that now spans three owners. Today the company provides light-, medium-, heavy-, and super heavy-duty towing across Bloomington-Normal and McLean County, along with accident recovery, roadside assistance such as jump starts and lockouts, and specialized load shifts, crane service, and DOT drive-in support. The shop on Circle Avenue stays open 24 hours a day for breakdowns, rollovers, and post-accident cleanup.
