Doug's Towing & Recovery traces back to 1978, when it opened as Doug's Exxon with a single wrecker and a two-bay garage at its present East Dixie Avenue location in Elizabethtown, Kentucky. The business became Doug's Chevron in 1982, doubled its bay space by 1988, and took the Doug's Towing & Recovery name in 1994 after the Chevron contract ended and Doug's son Kevin joined, bringing the fleet to two wreckers. The company added heavy-duty wreckers in 2001, a semi-truck in 2002, and acquired a towing service in 2006, growing to more than 40 units on the road daily. The fleet now includes rotators rated up to 75 tons, and the shop repairs everything from routine maintenance to heavy truck engines from Caterpillar, Cummins, Mercedes, Detroit, and International. Doug's operates a truck shop on Steel Drive and an auto shop on East Dixie Avenue, offering 24-hour towing and recovery.
