Best Rate Towing and Repair started in 1996 out of the garage of Joel and Peggy Johnson in Belgrade, Montana, with a single used 1985 Chevrolet tow truck. Joel handled the towing and repairs while Peggy managed phones and bookkeeping, and the business grew enough in the early 2000s to move to its current location on Amsterdam Road. A 35-ton wrecker joined the fleet in 2007, followed by a 2018 Kenworth T880 50-ton rotator, the first of its kind in the Gallatin Valley. Today the company runs more than 11 tow trucks around the clock, offering light, medium, heavy, and ultra heavy duty towing and recovery alongside a full-service automotive and diesel repair shop, hazmat response, and traffic control. Best Rate Towing and Repair remains locally owned and operated, serving the Gallatin Valley and the state of Montana.
